Allergan Aesthetics, a subsidiary of AbbVie (NYSE: ABBV), proudly announces the next chapter of its 2024 BOTOX® Cosmetic grant program, focused on empowering women entrepreneurs. This phase introduces crowdfunding campaigns for each of the 20 grant recipients, providing the public with an opportunity to support these inspiring women as they work toward achieving their business goals.
“Women-owned businesses continue to receive less than three percent of all venture capital funding,” noted Carrie Strom, President of Allergan Aesthetics and Senior Vice President at AbbVie. “With limited resources and funding options, crowdfunding presents a critical opportunity for these entrepreneurs to grow. Many of these women-led businesses play vital roles in their communities, contributing to job creation, innovation, and economic prosperity. Through crowdfunding, we can amplify their impact and boost confidence, not only in these entrepreneurs but also in the communities they serve.”
In its second year, the BOTOX® Cosmetic grant program awarded $25,000 grants to women entrepreneurs. Alongside financial support, recipients participated in a transformative bootcamp led by BOTOX® Cosmetic and Deepica Mutyala, founder of Live Tinted. This bootcamp included workshops on brand building, strategic planning, marketing, and one-on-one coaching with industry experts. The women also received ongoing support through a partnership with IFundWomen, helping them navigate the complexities of crowdfunding.
Maria Palacio, founder of Progeny Coffee and a 2023 grant recipient, reflected on the program’s impact: “Crowdfunding turned my business vision into a reality. I’m excited to see this year’s cohort launch their campaigns. Every contribution, no matter how small, validates and encourages us to keep pursuing our dreams.”
The crowdfunding campaigns not only provide a way to raise funds but also serve as platforms to showcase each entrepreneur’s story, passion, and determination. By contributing, supporters help close the “Confidence Gap” and uplift the next generation of women business leaders.
“The crowdfunding element of the BOTOX® Cosmetic grant program is more than just financial—it’s about building a community around our businesses,” shared Līhau Willing, founder of Iwi Nails and a 2024 grant recipient. “Being part of this program has been an incredible experience, and it’s inspiring to see the community, supported by BOTOX® Cosmetic, believe in and actively support our vision.”
Feedback from past grant recipients has shown that crowdfunding can be a powerful tool for business growth, although running a successful campaign requires dedication and strategy. This year, the program further enhances support by equipping entrepreneurs with the skills needed to navigate these challenges confidently.
The 2024 grant recipients have participated in a 10-week Crowdfunding Accelerator Program led by IFundWomen, which helped them refine their business pitches and prepare for their campaigns. Each recipient offers unique incentives for different contribution levels, and donations can be made either publicly or anonymously.
