Bio-Rad Names Rajat Mehta as Executive VP of Global Commercial Operations

Bio-Rad Laboratories Appoints Rajat Mehta as Executive Vice President of Global Commercial Operations, Marking a New Era in Strategic Leadership

Herculean succession marks leadership transition following the retirement of Mike Crowley, closing a pivotal chapter in Bio-Rad’s growth story while ushering in a dynamic new phase of commercial innovation.

Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE: BIO and BIO.B), a globally recognized leader in the development and manufacture of innovative products for life science research and clinical diagnostics, announced today that Rajat Mehta has been appointed Executive Vice President of Global Commercial Operations, effective August 4, 2025. This key leadership appointment signals a strategic milestone for Bio-Rad as it sharpens its focus on commercial agility, operational excellence, and sustained global growth.

In his new role, Mehta will be responsible for directing the company’s worldwide commercial organization, including global sales, marketing, customer service, and commercial enablement functions. He will take the reins from Mike Crowley, a respected industry veteran who will retire after a remarkable 26-year career with Bio-Rad, including more than a decade of service as the company’s EVP of Global Commercial Operations.

A Visionary Leader with Global Expertise in Diagnostics and Life Sciences

Rajat Mehta brings to Bio-Rad an impressive career portfolio that spans multiple verticals within the diagnostics, biopharmaceutical, and life sciences industries. His broad commercial acumen, honed through leadership roles at multinational corporations, positions him well to steer Bio-Rad’s next phase of strategic expansion and market penetration.

Prior to joining Bio-Rad, Mehta served as Senior Vice President at Labcorp, where he oversaw large-scale commercial operations across the company’s West Division, a territory that included some of Labcorp’s most complex and diverse markets. In this capacity, Mehta was credited with leading transformative sales initiatives, driving customer-centric innovations, and fostering strategic partnerships that enhanced the division’s competitive position.

Before his tenure at Labcorp, Mehta held the role of Vice President and General Manager of Applied Technologies at Thermo Fisher Scientific, where he led a global business unit serving high-growth life science and diagnostic segments. His leadership was instrumental in driving double-digit revenue growth, optimizing global go-to-market strategies, and ensuring operational consistency across geographic regions. Earlier in his career, Mehta spent several years at Dow Chemical, where he climbed the commercial ladder through a series of increasingly senior roles. At Dow, he led the development and implementation of integrated sales and marketing strategies that helped penetrate emerging markets and build customer loyalty.

Mehta holds an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, one of the world’s leading institutions for business education. He also earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Kurukshetra University in India, providing him with a robust foundation in both technical and managerial disciplines—a dual strength that has shaped his strategic approach throughout his career.

Strategic Alignment with Bio-Rad’s Long-Term Commercial Vision

Welcoming Mehta to the company’s executive leadership team, Jon DiVincenzo, President and Chief Operating Officer at Bio-Rad, emphasized the depth of experience and vision that Mehta brings to the role.

Rajat’s proven track record in delivering above-market growth, building and leading high-performing global teams, and aligning diverse commercial operations makes him an ideal fit for Bio-Rad,” said DiVincenzo. “His deep knowledge of both life sciences and clinical diagnostics, along with his ability to scale commercial capabilities across large multinational organizations, will be instrumental as we work to advance Bio-Rad’s long-term strategic objectives.”

Mehta’s leadership is expected to focus on strengthening customer engagement models, expanding market access, and enhancing sales enablement tools—all vital areas for sustaining the company’s commercial momentum. He will also play a key role in guiding the integration of digital technologies into commercial workflows, an ongoing priority for Bio-Rad as it continues its evolution into a data-driven, customer-focused enterprise.

Paying Tribute to Mike Crowley’s Legacy

As Bio-Rad welcomes its new EVP, the company also bids farewell to one of its most respected and influential leaders. Mike Crowley, who first joined Bio-Rad’s commercial team in 1998, has been a cornerstone of the company’s commercial success for more than two decades. Over the course of his career, he built and scaled a global commercial organization that now spans six continents and supports customers across research, clinical, and industrial segments.

Bio-Rad

Crowley was named Executive Vice President of Global Commercial Operations in 2014, a role in which he provided critical leadership during some of Bio-Rad’s most transformative years. Under his guidance, the company expanded into new markets, launched key product lines, and improved its operational footprint—all while cultivating a customer-first culture and driving consistent revenue growth.

Reflecting on Crowley’s retirement, Norman Schwartz, Chairman and CEO of Bio-Rad, expressed deep appreciation for his enduring contributions to the organization.

“On behalf of everyone at Bio-Rad, I want to extend our deepest gratitude and recognition to Mike for his exceptional service, strategic leadership, and unwavering commitment to the company,” said Schwartz. “Mike has played a vital role in building Bio-Rad’s global commercial infrastructure and has left an indelible mark on the company’s history. His ability to adapt to changing market dynamics, build strong customer relationships, and develop top-tier talent has been instrumental in Bio-Rad’s continued success.”

Crowley’s departure was planned as part of a broader succession strategy, ensuring a smooth transition of leadership. As part of this transition, Crowley will remain available in an advisory capacity through the end of the year, supporting Mehta and the broader leadership team during the onboarding process.

Bio-Rad’s decision to appoint Mehta underscores the company’s commitment to evolving its commercial organization in alignment with global trends and customer needs. With rapid scientific advancements, increased regulatory complexity, and growing competition across life science and clinical diagnostics markets, commercial agility and cross-functional collaboration are more important than ever.

Mehta is expected to focus on expanding Bio-Rad’s reach in key growth markets, optimizing regional sales structures, and deepening the company’s relationships with academic, government, and industry stakeholders. His experience leading cross-border teams and navigating complex regulatory environments will be critical as Bio-Rad seeks to enhance its competitiveness in regions such as Asia-Pacific, Europe, and Latin America.

Internally, Mehta will also lead initiatives to elevate employee development, sales effectiveness, and customer experience—key priorities as Bio-Rad continues to invest in its people and culture.

A Defining Moment for Bio-Rad

The appointment of Rajat Mehta to one of Bio-Rad’s most strategically important executive roles marks a pivotal moment in the company’s journey. It represents not just a change in leadership but also a recommitment to excellence, innovation, and customer-centric growth.

As the company prepares to enter this next phase under Mehta’s leadership, Bio-Rad remains focused on delivering high-quality, impactful solutions that advance research and improve human health worldwide. With a strong foundation laid by outgoing leader Mike Crowley and a bold vision embraced by Rajat Mehta, Bio-Rad’s commercial organization is well-positioned to meet the challenges and opportunities of the future.
