BioAlberta is excited to announce a new partnership with AxialBridge as its operational and commercialization partner. This collaboration aims to assist Alberta-based biotechnology and MedTech companies in expanding their clinical and research efforts into the United Kingdom. With the launch of BioAlberta’s virtual office for the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), the goal is to offer services that help companies navigate the UK market, including understanding regulatory and commercial pathways for success.
“AxialBridge is uniquely qualified to offer these services, thanks to their extensive experience and economic relationships in the UK,” said Robb Stoddard, President and CEO of BioAlberta. “We are committed to supporting Alberta companies as they explore new opportunities overseas.”
As part of this partnership, AxialBridge will work closely with BioAlberta and the NIHR, acting as a trusted source of expertise to facilitate a bilateral exchange of life science opportunities. AxialBridge already has significant agreements in place with several key UK institutions, including the London Institute for Healthcare Engineering at King’s College London and two NIHR HealthTech Research Centres (HRCs). They also serve as operating partners for a Women’s Health venture studio. With their track record of helping Canadian companies conduct clinical trials and secure funding in the UK, AxialBridge has similarly supported UK companies entering the Western Canadian market. Their work will involve identifying and enabling opportunities for clinical trials, research and development, commercialization, and business growth in both markets.
“We’re incredibly proud to see this partnership come to life,” said Jaspreet Grewal, CEO and Co-Founder of AxialBridge. “Our relationship with the NIHR has developed over several years, and we’ve worked hard to find ways to support our Canadian clients’ expansion into the UK market. BioAlberta is the perfect partner to pilot the NIHR Virtual Office in Canada, and we are excited to continue fostering innovation through collaboration. This partnership is a great opportunity for Canada, and we trust BioAlberta to lead the way.”
This collaboration marks a significant moment in the longstanding relationship between Canada and the United Kingdom. By sharing opportunities, ideas, and expertise, both parties are committed to enhancing the growth of Alberta’s life sciences sector while welcoming UK companies looking to establish themselves in Western Canada.
