Johnson & Johnson Launches Mobile Simulator App to Empower Breast Augmentation Patients

Johnson & Johnson announced the U.S. launch of the Arbrea Breast Simulator Surgeon App for Mentor, a digital consultation tool available on tablets and smart phones that helps plastic surgeons personalize planning for patients by visualizing potential outcomes during consultations.

“The Arbrea Breast Simulator Surgeon App for Mentor gives surgeons an easy-to use digital tool that helps transform their augmentation consultations into clear, patient-centered conversations,” said Alenka Brzulja, Worldwide President, Aesthetics & Reconstruction, MedTech, Johnson & Johnson. “Many women spend months or even years considering breast augmentation. By allowing them to visualize potential outcomes in seconds, this app brings clarity to the decision-making process, supports a more confident, personal choice, and has been shown to help patients feel ready to make decisions more quickly.”

Although patients considering breast augmentation increasingly rely on online research and social media to inform their decision-making process, consultations with plastic surgeons often remain largely analog. Most plastic surgeons still use physical sizers and before-and-after galleries to guide conversations about outcomes. The Arbrea Breast Simulator Surgeon App for Mentor delivers a personalized 3D simulation in about 60 seconds, enhancing clinical discussions in real time and helping patients visualize how different options could look on their own bodies.

“I’ve seen it many times in my practice. A patient comes in feeling excited and eager to explore their options, but when they’re unable to visualize the results on their own body, anxiety and uncertainty sets in and their enthusiasm can fade,” said Kriti Mohan, M.D., board-certified plastic surgeon based in Houston, Texas. “Patients want to feel confident in their decisions and also in their potential results. The Arbrea Breast Simulator Surgeon App for Mentor has given me a way to provide clear, personalized visualizations that help my patients better understand their anatomy and options so that they are able to move forward with their breast augmentation procedure with greater confidence.”

Recently published research in the Aesthetic Surgery Journal Open Forum underscores the need for solutions that help patients better visualize outcomes during breast augmentation consultations. The study found that while 68.4% of women surveyed had considered the procedure, only 17.5% had undergone it, and just 7.2% of those who consulted proceeded to surgery.Among the factors influencing decision making was concern about whether results would look natural, highlighting how uncertainty around aesthetic outcomes remains a key barrier to surgical decision making.

Two separate studies have demonstrated the positive impact of the Arbrea Breast Simulator App on the consultation experience. In one study, patients rated the app 3.4 out of 4 for how closely it matched their final surgical result.2 In another, clinics reported conversion rates as high as 87% for consultations using the app, demonstrating its role in helping patients visualize their desired results and feel more confident in moving forward with breast augmentation.3

The Arbrea Breast Simulator Surgeon App for Mentor is now available to plastic surgeons in the U.S. and will be showcased at major aesthetic surgery meetings throughout 2026. For more information, please visit our website.
