Fresenius Kabi, a division of Fresenius, and the Association for the Advancement of Blood & Biotherapies (AABB) are excited to announce the commencement of the 19th annual Blood Collectors Week, taking place from September 1 through September 7, 2024. This week-long celebration honors the crucial role of individuals involved in blood collection—phlebotomists, apheresis operators, medical directors, donor recruiters, technicians, and drivers—who bridge the gap between blood donors and patients in need of vital medical treatment.
Blood Collectors Week is an established initiative, co-created and sponsored by AABB, a leading international organization in transfusion medicine and biotherapies, and Fresenius Kabi, a global healthcare leader specializing in pharmaceuticals, biopharmaceuticals, clinical nutrition, and medical technologies.
Eddie Kubo, Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations for Transfusion and Cell Therapies in North America and China at Fresenius Kabi, stated, “For 19 years, we have proudly celebrated the selfless dedication of those in the blood collection field. This week, we aim to honor their contributions and highlight their commitment. The meticulous nature of blood collection is crucial for maintaining the safety and quality of America’s blood supply, and these professionals deserve our deepest gratitude.”
Nearly 300 blood centers across the United States are set to celebrate and recognize local blood collectors for their unwavering commitment to patient health and safety. To find a participating center near you, click here.
Debra BenAvram, FASAE, CAE, CEO of AABB, commented, “Our country is fortunate to have countless dedicated professionals who work tirelessly to ensure the safety and availability of the blood supply. Their heroic efforts are vital to ensuring that blood is consistently available for patients across the nation. AABB is proud to once again partner with Fresenius Kabi for this year’s Blood Collectors Week to honor and appreciate these invaluable contributors.”
